The Challenge
- The Load: 50 complete workstations (desks, ergonomic chairs, dual-monitor setups), a sensitive server room with two full racks, heavy conference room furniture, and a kitchen’s worth of appliances.
- The Timeline: The move had to start Friday at 5:01 PM and be 100% complete by Sunday evening. Total working window: 48 hours.
- The Logistics: Both buildings were downtown, requiring coordination with freight elevators, loading docks, and property management.
The Iron Grip Movers Plan
A commercial move is 90% planning. Our commercial relocation specialist worked with the company’s IT manager and office manager for three weeks to build a perfect plan.
Phase 1: Pre-Move Preparation (Friday, 5 PM – 10 PM) As soon as employees logged off, our “After-Hours” crew arrived.
- IT & Server Takedown: A specialized IT crew, working with the client’s team, began the systematic and safe decommissioning of the server racks.
- Workstation Packing: The main crew disassembled workstations. Using our color-coded labeling system, every single component was labeled with its corresponding workstation number and new floor plan location.
Phase 2: The Transport (Saturday, 8 AM – 6 PM) This was the main event.
- Heavy Lifting: We dedicated one truck just for the sensitive IT equipment and servers, which were moved first.
- Transport Loop: Two additional 26-foot trucks ran in a continuous loop, transporting workstations and furniture. Our crew at the new building was already reassembling desks as they arrived.
- Efficiency: By 6 PM, every item was out of the old office and inside the new one.
Phase 3: The Setup (Sunday, 9 AM – 4 PM) This is where precision matters most.
- IT Reconnection: The IT crew rebuilt the server racks and, by noon, had the company’s internal network back online.
- Workstation Setup: Our main crew placed every desk, chair, and computer according to the exact, pre-approved floor plan.
- Final Touches: We mounted whiteboards, set up the breakroom, and hauled away every empty box and piece of packing debris.
The Result
On Monday at 8:00 AM, employees arrived at their new office. They sat down, turned on their computers, and got right to work.
- Total Downtime: 0 Business Hours
- Client Feedback: “Iron Grip didn’t just move our stuff; they moved our entire operation. We didn’t miss a single email.”
A commercial move’s success is measured in hours, not days. Whether your business is moving across the street, relocating your headquarters from Austin to Dallas, or expanding with a new branch from Austin to Houston, Iron Grip Movers has the precision and speed you deserve.
